Revolution Void - Increase the Dosage
Revolution Void is the compositional ensemble of Jonah Dempcy, and his recording of the same name is a strange blending of live band/ensemble-style instrumentation fused with other live and textural elements. The thing that's really striking about this recording, for better or for worse, is that there's a real drummer playing drums, actually the same beat that Crystal Method starts off with on their disc Vegas with the song "Don't You Wanna Trip Like I Do." In that song there's a very distinct synth line, which is obviously a factory preset to some high-end synthesizer, as Jonah Dempcy comes in with that same synth line. Those who don't know better might think that their Crystal Method CD is in the disc changer with their Revolution Void CD, as they sound that similar. Fortunately, though, that's the only allusion to Crystal Method; the rest of the Revolution Void recording is excellent and shows quite a gifted blend of sounds that defy genre specification, coming together and becoming quite cohesive.
